About Parry and Harper Clans
Please sign in to see more. Had a fantastic time at Family Reunion in 2009. Can't wait till another.
The Parry's from Iowa and the Harper's from Alabama.
My father, born in Montana, came to Alabama from Iowa with a degree in music hoping to enrich the South with his music. He met and married a beautiful southern lady and they moved to North Carolina to teach for one year. Forty years later, he retired from the Rocky Mount city schools.
The families they came from and the families that were created by them is the subject of this project. Our ancestors include famous Baptist and Methodist ministers, Revolutionary War heros, Yankees, Rebs, farmers, merchants, Scottist, Welsh, Swedish, Russian and French. They helped settle Jamestown and New Hampshire.
They went out West with the Forty-Niners to search for gold. Some became ranchers, others became lawmen in the Rocky Mountains. They fought and died in the Revolutionary War and The War of 1812. They even shot at one another at Drewry's Bluff in the War for Southern Independence. Thank the good Lord they were bad shots and missed each other.
Even one of the signers of the Constitution of the United States weaved his way into the family.
